Police in India have arrested a college student for his involvement in the PikaShow streaming app.
PikaShow was a pirate streaming application that provided unauthorized access to movies and TV shows protected by copyright.

The student arrested in connection with the PikaShow streaming app is from Rajasthan, India.
The Deputy Commissioner of North East Police, Anoop Shetty, confirmed that the man, who is a college student, was arrested for copyright violation based on a complaint by Star India.
Anoop Shetty stated the following on this arrest:
“We have arrested Shisharam Badiya from his native place Rajasthan for copyright violation based on a complaint by Star India.”
He is accused of streaming copyrighted content from Star India and Disney+ Hotstar on PikaShow and earning money through advertising.
The police were able to trace the suspect’s cell phone number and make the arrest.
PikaShow’s popularity has been on the decline recently, with many users suggesting that the app’s downfall was due to monetizing pirated content.
Some users have also said that new apps will likely take PikaShow’s place.
There are now hundreds of domains with fake ‘PikaShow’ branding claiming to offer the official app.
