AnimeDao Shut Down

The AnimeDao streaming website has been shut down by ACE/MPA.

The Alliance for Creativity and Entertainment (ACE) is a global anti-piracy organization responsible for shutting down hundreds of pirate streaming sites.

When it comes to Anime websites, IPTV services, streaming apps, and streaming websites, there are thousands of verified and unverified options to choose from.

We have no idea which streaming apps/sites hold the proper licensing for the content they broadcast, and we rely on reports from ACE like this one to better inform our visitors about the legality of streaming websites.

This time it’s a notable anime streaming website on ACE’s radar that was seized – AnimeDao.

If you visit the official website (AnimeDao.to) you will be presented with this screen.

The developers of AnimeDao left the following message:

“Shutting down. We can’t provide content anymore without popup-ads. All the scraped contents are protected by cors or other security measures. This domain is also being targeted and we don’t want to change domains. If you have bookmarks. You can find them here. animedao.to is the only animedao domain. The others claiming to be us are fake.

Thank you and goodbye”

AnimeDao.to was one of the largest anime pirate sites, with millions of monthly visitors.

In recent times, traffic analytics show that Animedao, an illegal anime streaming website, received approximately 55 million visits over the last quarter.

In recent times, traffic analytics show that Animedao, an illegal anime streaming website, received approximately 55 million visits over the last quarter.

In the aftermath of the initial report about the subpoena in early July, Anime Kaizoku, one of the targeted sites, announced its closure. Animedao, a much larger platform, has now made a similar announcement.

The latest data from SimilarWeb indicates that Animedao had over 54 million visits in three recent months. The numbers were 19.1 million in April, around 18.1 million in May, and 16.9 million in June.

Given that a majority of these visitors were from the US, it was only a matter of time before ACE took action.

The DMCA subpoena indicated that Animedao was under investigation. However, the site’s future is unclear following its recent decision to cease operations for financial, technical, and legal reasons.

Following MPA/ACE’s visit to Vietnam, Zoro.to abruptly shut down and transferred its domains to MPA. But this was not the end of the story.

In no time, Zoro.to was reincarnated under a new domain (aniwatch.to) with a fresh branding.

This suggests that the agreement with Zoro’s operator might not have been legally binding, typically associated with ACE’s actions.

Moreover, the reemergence of former fan-favorite Aniwatch.me (not to be confused with Aniwatch.to) may indicate a backslide in the fight against piracy.

Another significant closure was that of Anime Kaizoku, a smaller platform. After vanishing online due to ACE pressure, the animekaizoku.com domain has recently been revived, redirecting to Simkl.com, another anime platform, capitalizing on the traffic previously going to Anime Kaizoku.

The coming months will reveal how the anime piracy landscape evolves, but one thing is clear: the status quo is unlikely to continue.

The anime piracy scene is remarkably organized, with centralized and sophisticated independent systems ensuring content distribution across an array of supplied sites.

These facts highlight intriguing questions about the source diversity of pirated content and how it could affect the stability of the anime piracy ecosystem.

Very few pirate platforms host and control large volumes of anime content. One of these platforms, GogoAnime, provides content for numerous other sites, which could be particularly vulnerable to an overnight shutdown.

One domain that no longer serves anime content is BUNNYCDNN.RU, a platform once linked with high-traffic anime platforms. After a change in ownership, it is now under the control of MPA/ACE, marking another win for these anti-piracy groups.

Overall, it will be interesting to see what ultimately happens to the operators of AnimeDao.

We are also curious to determine which pirate streaming sites are next on ACE’s target list. We will always keep our visitors informed on the latest streaming news when the information is released.

This isn’t the first time we’ve seen notable streaming sites shut down by ACE and other anti-piracy authorities.
