The operator’s name is Joshua Streit and he is facing charges that include wire fraud, sending interstate threats with the intent to extort, and more.

Streit eventually reached a plea agreement with the US government in which he will forfeit $500,000 in damages. He could potentially face a prison sentence of up to five years.

Then in March 2021, Joshua Streit contacted an MLB employee saying he had previously disclosed a network vulnerability in their systems and wanted compensation for his “security work.”

The court documentation revealed the following conversation between Streit and an MLB executive:

You will find that Streit requested $150,000 for his disclosure to MLB. This email chain eventually led to US government authorities getting involved.

Then in June 2022, Streit eventually pleaded guilty to “Computer Fraud – Unauthorized Access to Obtain Information from a Protected Computer.”

Another way to put it, Streit obtained illegal access to users of an MLB website and then used that to broadcast illegal streaming of sporting events on HeHeStreams for a profit.

The court documents state the following:

“As a result of the offense charged Count One of the Information, to which the Defendant pled guilty, a money judgment in the amount of $500,000, representing the amount traceable to the offense charged in Count One of the Indictment that the Defendant personally obtained, shall be entered against the Defendant.”

This isn’t the first instance we’ve seen copyright authorities come after IPTV operations.
