A1Streams and Other IPTV Services Targeted by ACE & MPA
A1Streams and other IPTV services are being targeted by the Alliance for Creativity and Entertainment (ACE) and the Motion Pictures Association (MPA).
A1Streams is a notable IPTV service used by thousands of cord-cutters across the world.
A few weeks ago, ACE and the MPA obtained a DMCA subpoena requiring Cloudflare to identify the operators behind the A1Streams IPTV service.
Unlike many websites for IPTV services, A1Streams is set up in an interesting fashion. They appear to act as a “sales portal” for various IPTV providers.
This includes names such as Epic IPTV, Crown IPTV, OK2 IPTV, TVZon, and others.
According to the official DMCA subpoena from ACE, the table below shows that A1Streams unlawfully distributed VOD content within its service.
Notice how this lawsuit pertains to VOD content and not live channels? This always seems to be the case when copyright authorities like ACE and the MPA come after unverified IPTV services.
Also found in the DMCA subpoena, the Executive Vice President and Chief of Global Content Protection for ACE stated the following:
“As is stated in the attached subpoena, you are required to disclose to the Motion Picture Association, Inc. (on behalf of the ACE Members) information sufficient to identify the infringers. This would include the individuals’ names, physical addresses, IP addresses, telephone numbers, e-mail addresses, payment information, account updates and account history.”
One would assume ACE is referring to the operators behind A1Streams as the “infringers,” but we are not 100 percent certain.
